Hello from Bali! I can hear the crickets chirping, there’s a soft breeze on my skin, but the air is still warm and humid. Actually my freshly dried hair doesn’t even really dry because it’s so humid here. It’s completely pitch-black dark outside, besides the turquoise lights in the pool. I have a glass of cold water and half a cold Snickers from the fridge. Life is good.
But why am I here? What will I be doing?
How come I just got my ticket a week ago?
And even worse: Why have I only got a one-way flight?
As you might know, there are things I have wanted to do for ever, but which I never did. Travelling around South-East Asia is one of them. When my friend Hannah asked me if I would come to Bali with her a few months ago, the answer was quite obvious (although I struggled a lot with making the decision).
Now Hannah, five other girls and I will be travelling around Bali for the next 10 days. I have known Hannah, Heather and Pixie ever since I started instagramming and have been really good friends for Hannah since 2014. The others are two bloggers from the UK and a girl from Australia. We will explore Canggu (where we’re now) and then continue to Uluwatu, Seminyak and South Kuta. We have chosen to explore mainly the southern part of the island, so that we can make the most of each day rather than spending too much time in overpriced taxis, however we do hope to visit Ubud for a day trip and potentially a few waterfalls if we have the time! How exciting!
And after that?
Well, I will just continue travelling on my own. Where? I don’t know. First Indonesia, then maybe Malaysia and the Philippines. How, with whom, where will I stay? I literally don’t know anything yet. I have never done anything like this before and I have no idea how this is going to work. It does make me feel a bit nervous, but on the other hand I think this is going to be a big step fore me.
I will figure out a way on how to do it. I’m currently embracing the idea of travelling on my own. I have nothing planned but that’s new for me and it will be exciting. I know that I will want to take off quite some time to work on both my career, applications, my blog’s structure and much more. But most of the time, I will be exploring and learning. I am sure I’ve got so much to learn during this journey. And I want to see how the world changes me.
PS.: I’m very eager to share my first Bali shots with you! It’s just so beautiful here, but see for yourself!
