Two and a half weeks until my half marathon – oopsie! It’s actually getting serious! As I told you here my training isn’t going that well at the moment. I’ve been waiting for the snow to melt since January, but days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and now it’s almost April and it’s still all snowy. Goodness, how is this even possible! And if I want it or not – my only solution is the treadmill!
I used to absolutely hate the treadmill. There is nothing more boring than just running and not getting forward at all. And staring at walls. But in situation I don’t have that many options. Without the treadmill I wouldn’t run at all! I have to be honest – I still don’t manage more than 5 or 7 kilometers on the treadmill. But at least it’s better than nothing, right?
Well, here come my treadmill tips for you guys!
My three best tips to conquer boredom: audiobooks, crime films (there are quite some on Youtube) or watching Snapchat-Stories! That’s how I manage to run waaaayyyy longer. In order to not get an aching neck you shoud remember to place your phone at the same level as your eyes.
Goal in distance instead of time. Set your goal to running 3, 5 or even 7 kilometers, not to running for 30 minutes. That way you’ll run a lot faster in order to get the run behind! Works every time!
Drink enough. In closed rooms you sweat a lot more. Do you feel like treadmill running is much harder than jogging outside? Well, it might be because you’re not drinking enough!
Do you have a friend who you’d like to do sports with, but who is a lot faster or slower than you are? Well, treadmills might be your chance to chat while running at a different pace.
I will never be a big fan of treadmill running (sigh) – but it’s definitely better than no running at all and a good for warm ups too! And knowing that I’ll have to manage the half marathon in a few weeks I can actually motivate myself too. Remember to set a goal!
