Going through my photos from Greece from two weeks ago, I came to think about my bucket list. There are still so many places I want to see, so many things I want to do. And to be honest, I’m planning to do them during the following years. One day I want to settle down, have a proper job, have a husband, a house with a garden … then I won’t be able to travel as much as I’d like to do now. So there are quite some dreams I want to fulfil before I get to that point.
1. Summer School in New York
I know I will never actually live in New York. It’s just too far away from home. But I would love to know what living there is like. I want to try the cute little cafes and see the sky scrapers and especially I would love to try living my dream life I once had. Have you ever seen the movie ‘Fame’? It’s about an Arts’ University in New York, with all the artists, dancers and musicians in one building. That’s where I’ve been wanting to go and now my plan is to do it for at least one summer.
2. Study in London
My parents always told me I will study Graphic Design. My parents always told me I should go to a world class school in a great city. Being about 17-21 I didn’t want to do anything my parents told me to. And now, growing up, I realised that my parents have always known me better than I do myself. And they’re so right. I want to study Graphic Design. In London. At UAL, Central Saint Martin’s.
3. Visit Disneyland with my sister
Lili and I have been to Disneyland several times – unfortunately we don’t remember any of it. We last went there about 11 years ago. But we’re both massive Disney fans, will always stay little girls on the inside and we want to go there so bad!
4. Write a book
I wrote a bucket list, when I was about 12. I wrote the next one at about 17. This one point has always been on my bucket list. I hope I will do it one day! Wether it will be a children’s book with my own illustrations (Cornelia Funke used to be my biggest idol), a cook book, a creative advice book or a book including lots of inspiring stories – I don’t know yet. But I hope to see my work in a book store one day!
5. Perform in a musical
I love singing, I love dancing, I love acting. I have done all of them for a big part of my life – but never together. I remember how I imagined becoming a Broadway performer. Now I know I’ll never be that – but I hope that I still get to be part of a musical. Maybe at uni?
6. See ‘Les Miserables’ in London
Lili and I have quite some travel plans. We have been to London together, we have even seen a musical there, but unfortunately not this one. We love the movie “Les Mis” so we HAVE TO go see the real musical as well! In December we saw “Wicked” by the way, but weren’t that fond of it – it was more like a children’s tale.
7. Travel around South East Asia and get a diving licence in Cambodia
I’ve wanted to do this ever since I met some backpackers in Cambodia. First I wanted to do it with my best friend, then with my boyfriend, and since nothing ever happened, Lili and I are now planning to do it when she turns 18. I hope we will!
8. Appear in a magazine
Gosh, this has been my dream ever since I started blogging. I hope that one day I’ll be important enough that a magazine or a newspaper interviews me, asks me for my opinion or even writes an article on me. Oh how amazing that would be!
I think these are my major bucket list points that I want to work on. I am so proud to say that during the last 6 months I have already fulfilled two of my dreams. They were:
9. Travel to London and Oxford with my sister
… which we did in December – and we went to find all the Harry Potter film locations in Oxford, which was absolutely magical!
10. Visit Greece
… which I did just two weeks ago. Travelling to Greece had a lot to do with my favourite film when I was younger. You can read more about it under this instagram post.
I hope that I’ll stay as ambitious as I am now and continue working towards these goals. Sometimes I am really driven – and sometimes that drive just ends, I become lazy and give up on my dreams. Which will just make me unhappy again later. For me it’s not always easy to make the decision and then actually arrange things in order to hit my goal, but I know how happy it will make me and how rewarding it will be so I’ll try my best!
I would LOVE you to share at least one of your life goals in the comments!
