Basic Oatmeal

I got up this morning, made myself a coffee, checked the newest snaps, poured my oats in a pot, cooked myself some oatmeal … and soon I was such a happy person. Seriously. Oatmeal is the best start to a day! And as I have oats every single morning and definitely couldn’t live without them, I thought it’s time to post a recipe – at last! Or actually it was someone on Instagram asking me for my basic recipe – so here it comes! Even though it’s not a revolutionising recipe or anything, just a very simple but dangerously delicious and addictive one.

INGREDIENTS

500 ml water
1 cup oats
pinch of salt

HOW TO:

  1. Place the oats and the water in a large pan over a medium heat.
  2. Add a tiny pinch of salt and stir with a spoon.
  3. Bring to a steady simmer for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring as often as you can to give you smooth creamy oatmeal – if you like your porridge runnier, simply add a splash more milk or water until you’ve got the consistency you like.

That’s it – easy peasy! As in the pictures above, you can top it with any fruit or berries. Another of my favourites goes like this: put water and oats in a pot and while they are cooking, stir in half a banana (chopped into little slices). Add some peanut butter and cinnamon and later top it with more banana slices and peanut butter – absolutely amazing!

    I am a oatmeal lover too (like calling it porridge tho) I use 1/3 cup oats and 1/3 cup soymilk, then I keep adding water while cooking it. I add in chiaseeds looots of cinnaom and smashed banana! Amazing.

      Smashed bananas in oatmeal are life! I just barely ever have enough nanas at home, and those that I have I spare for nana ice cream…:P

    I prepare my oats in the microvawe owen. 100 ml oats, 300 ml water, salt. 3-4 minutes with full power 👍
