Arriving in London

Sorry for the extreme absence. London life has just been way too busy! My classes are so good but so hard too and after every single day I am so exhausted that I don’t even snap anymore. But now it’s Saturday and I’m sitting at the Mae Deli sipping an almond milk cinnamon matcha latte and it’s finally time to update you lovely people on everything that’s going on!

What do I do here?
The most asked question needs to be answered first. What do I do here? I am taking a Computer Graphic Design Summer Course at the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins campus. And it’s crazy good! It’s extremely intense which means that it requires a lot of work but we’re also learning so much in such a short time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to learn all of graphic design in four short weeks!

Best thing I’ve eaten?
Every Thursday and Friday there are little stalls around King’s Cross station (near my uni) selling all kinds of Asian food. And I think I spotted some Mexican delicacies as well. I had vietnamese noodles with jackfruit and tofu once and it was spiced with lime, coriander, sriracha, chilli, soy sauce and peanuts and it couldn’t have tasted more authentic!

Best thing I have done?
Walking through Soho (Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden and that area) on a Friday night. That really was the London feel I was expecting! Lots of light, lots of fancy dressed people, music and such a cool vibe!

LondonWorst thing I have done?
Going to see The Book of Mormon. It’s a musical about mormons going to Uganda and the jokes were just so dirty that I was embarrassed to only be in the theatre!

What I love most?
Definitely China Town (I have been there at least four times in two weeks even though I live very far away!) because it really feels (and tastes) like real China. I’m also absolutely addicted to my gym at St. Pancras which I’ve been to eight times this week only! 😀

What annoys me most?
That the tube is so expensive. Getting around London is going to make me broke.

Stupidest idea?
Washing my clothes and drying them in my tiny dorm room. They’re still not dry and everything smells.

Best idea?
Going out with Pixie and Maxine yesterday. I am usually very unsocial and haven’t had a girls’ night in YEARS so this was super cool! I should do this more!

What am I going to do during the next weeks?
I definitely want to have an Indian dinner and sushi some day soon, I will go hang around Piccadilly Circus when they release the eighth Harry Potter book next week and I want to see Les Mis the musical. But of course I will also have to study a lot, which means I’ll have to hold myself back from going into London every day.

Even though t’s super stressing it’s super cool is that I am finally here, fulfilling one of my dreams of studying in London. It was one of my Bucket List points and it’s almost just as I expected – just a bit busier, a bit harder and more tiring that I thought. And a bit more lonely. But I’m making the best of my time and can’t wait for the weeks to come!

Hi Lottie! Greeting all the way from California :)

I enjoy watching your snaps, it makes me so excited to go to London in November for 9 days during my Thanksgiving holiday break from teaching. I will be renting a flat in Soho, so that is very very exciting!

Do you have an Oyster card? From what I have read, it is much cheaper to ride the tube with one since it caps the amount you can spend at a certain amount, depending on which zones you are traveling within.

It would be lovely if you could create a list of some of your favorite places at the end of your trip, or some recommendations on where to go in London!
